Doktorandský den: Výzkumné výzvy a metodologické problémy

Katedra románských jazyků FF MU zve všechny zájemce na jedinečnou událost zaměřenou na aktuální otázky doktorského výzkumu – Doktorandský den, který se uskuteční v sobotu 7. prosince 2024.

Akce nabídne nejen inspirativní úvodní přednášku, ale také prostor pro prezentace doktorandů na téma výzkumných výzev a metodologických problémů. Po programu následuje neformální diskuze, která poskytne účastníkům možnost sdílet své zkušenosti a navázat nové kontakty.

Celá akce proběhne v prostorách učeben B2.22 a B2.23 na adrese Arna Nováka 1.

PhD Research Day: Challenges and Methodological Problems

The Faculty of Arts at Masaryk University invites you to a unique event focusing on key topics in doctoral research – the PhD Research Day, taking place on Saturday, December 7, 2024.

The event offers an inspiring opening lecture, followed by PhD student presentations on research challenges and methodological issues. The program concludes with an informal discussion, allowing participants to exchange ideas and build new connections.

The event will take place in rooms B2.22 and B2.23 at Arna Nováka 1.

Jitka Glosová & Jitka Koudelková: Navigating Academic Writing: Structuring Research Texts for Success

  • Jitka Koudelková is a PhD student in Narratology at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University. Her research explores The Image of the Foreigner in Contemporary Czech Prose, focusing on how literature reflects and shapes perspectives on otherness. Her academic interests center on narratology and contemporary Czech literature.
  • Jitka Glosová is a PhD student in the field of Romance Languages and Literatures. Her research interests lie in the area of penal law terminology, with a particular focus on its utilisation in the context of both translation and diatopic variants.

Alžběta Bohme Ryšková: Longitudinal case study design in linguistics – benefits and drawbacks

Alžběta is a PhD student of Romance languages with specialization in applied and experimental linguistics. She focuses on the interdisciplinary study of bilingualism and bilingual first language acquisition, in particular the language interaction, crosslinguistic influence and language mixing.

Kristýna Lorenzová & Magdaléna Nahálková: Designing a Spoken Learner Corpus ( of Italian L2 )

  • Kristýna is a second year PhD student in Romance Languages - Experimental and Applied Linguistics. Her research interests lie in areas, such as pragmatics, corpus linguistics, as well as L2/LS acquisition, in particular the acquisition of Italian by learners with L1 Slavic. Her doctoral thesis, supervised by Assoc.Prof. Egle Mocciaro, is dedicated to the development of discourse markers in the interlanguage of Czech and Slovak learners of Italian as a non-mother tongue from a longitudinal perspective.
  • Magda is a PhD student in Romance Languages. Her research focuses on second language acquisition, particularly the acquisition of Italian with a specific emphasis on motion verbs. Under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Egle Mocciaro, her doctoral thesis examines strategies of lexicalization of motion events in the interlanguage of Czech and Slovak learners of Italian L2 through a longitudinal study.

Jan Rutsch: How to Define Literature in 18th-Century France?

A doctoral student in Romance literatures, Jan Rutsch is working on his doctoral thesis The Enlightenment and natural law under the supervision of Ms Katia Hayek. His research focuses on the political and moral philosophy of the French Enlightenment philosophers, the comparison of their legal theories and the definition of the notion of literature in the eighteenth century.

Daniela Sochůrková: How not to write a biography

Department of Romance Languages and Literatures, Doctoral studies, 3rd semester. The subject of this dissertation is the personality of Adolf Kroupa (1910-1981); a translator of poetry primarily from French, director of the Brno City Art House (1954-1980) and an important organizer of cultural life, first in Prague but mainly in Brno. The title of my work is Adolf Kroupa rediscovered. And my intention is to write a more extensive bilingual (Czech-French) biography/monography, which would include both a factual account of his life and, most importantly, an extensive selection of his translation activities.
