Pár momentek z PhD Day

V pondělí 16. června 2025 se na Ústavu románských jazyků a literatur FF MU uskutečnil již téměř tradiční PhD Day. Příspěvky byly jak lingvistické, tak literární, a nesly se v tématu What Could Possibly Go Wrong? Method Meets Reality.

Po úvodních slovech vystoupil profesor Jan Chovanec s přednáškou Tips of a Successful PhD, která nám, doktorandům, přinesla nejen praktické tipy, ale také uklidnění, že nesnáze a nejistoty jsou opravdu nedílnou součástí výzkumu a dočasné neúspěchy jsou prostorem pro hledání nového řešení.

V následujícím bloku představili doktorandi části vlastích výzkumů, v nichž narazili na metodologické či jiné problémy, a také způsob, jak se s nimi popasovali. Po každém příspěvku následovala debata, která přinesla jak zpětnou vazbu, tak nové vhledy do jednotlivých problematik.

On Monday, 16 June 2025, the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University, hosted the now almost traditional PhD Day. This year’s contributions, both linguistic and literary, revolved around the theme What Could Possibly Go Wrong? Method Meets Reality.

Following the opening remarks, Professor Jan Chovanec gave a keynote lecture titled Tips of a Successful PhD, which offered not only practical advice but also reassurance that difficulties and uncertainties are an inherent part of research—and that temporary failures can open the door to new solutions.

In the main session, PhD students presented parts of their research in which they encountered methodological or other challenges, along with the ways they addressed them. Each presentation was followed by a discussion that provided valuable feedback and fresh insights into the respective topics.
